The Panerai Luminor Due is the thin branch of the Luminor line. Panerai introduced it in 2016. Genuine 42 mm Due cases measure about 10.5 mm thick. Standard 44 mm Luminor cases run about 14 mm to 16 mm. Many Due references carry a 3 bar (30 m) water rating, not the 300 m of a Luminor Submersible. Replicas copy the shape. They miss on three points: case thickness, movement, and dial print.

Where Replicas Differ
Case thickness
A 42 mm replica Due often measures 12 mm to 13 mm at the case back. The genuine case is about 10.5 mm. Calipers show the gap in 2 minutes.
Movement
Replica three-hand Due watches use base movements such as the Seagull ST25 or a Miyota 9015 with a decorative plate. The plate prints P.900 or P.9010. Some replica bases run at 21,600 vph. Others run at 28,800 vph. A timegrapher shows the beat rate of the watch in hand. It does not confirm the maker.
Dial and lume
Dial build changes by reference. Some Due models use a sandwich dial with a cut-out top plate. Others use a printed dial. Replicas widen the date window and use a thicker font. Lume on replicas glows for 10 to 20 minutes. Super-LumiNova on a genuine dial holds light for hours.
Crown guard and caseback
The Luminor crown guard lever is a bridge with a roller. On replicas the lever is loose, or it sits at the wrong angle. Caseback text on replicas is shallow. Look for the OP logo, the reference number, and the case material code. Genuine engraving is deep and sharp.
Checks Before You Buy
- Measure case thickness with calipers. Compare the number to the reference spec.
- Run a timegrapher. Note beat rate and rate deviation.
- Inspect the date font and window size under a loupe.
- Charge the lume with a UV light. Time the glow.
- Check the crown guard lever for play.
- Read the caseback engraving with a 10x loupe.
Legal Note
Replica watches carry trademarks they do not own. US Customs and Border Protection seizes counterfeit goods under 19 U.S.C. Section 1526. Panerai and other brands file civil claims against sellers. Buyers face seizure of the item and no refund.
