A replica sold as a "Datograph 410.035" is not a copy of a reference 410.035. Lange's numbering places the 1999 Datograph in the 403.xxx block and the Datograph Up/Down in 405.xxx. The 410.xxx block is used for Datograph Perpetual models. Most sellers who use the number 410.035 ship a steel flyback chronograph that copies the look of the 1999 Datograph. The watch and the number do not match.

- Case metal: steel with plating, not 950 platinum. Platinum density is 21.45 g/cm3 against 7.9 g/cm3 for steel, so the weight gap is easy to measure.
- Movement: quartz, an Asian automatic chronograph, or a decorated hand-wind unit without a column wheel or flyback.
- Date: a small window or fixed discs in place of the outsize date.
- Glass: mineral or coated sapphire instead of the genuine crystal.
- Finish: the black polish on the steel parts and the engraved balance cock are not reproduced to Lange standard.
