Short answer

A fake IWC Da Vinci IW3760 fails in four places: the caseback engraving, the movement finish, the chronograph pushers, and the dial printing. Check all four. One correct detail does not prove a watch is genuine.

Caseback and numbers

The reference number, serial number, and case material sit on the caseback. On a genuine watch the engraving is deep, the gap between digits is consistent, and the metal around the text is flat. On a copy the text is shallow, spacing drifts, and the border around the engraving is rounded. Match the caseback serial to the movement serial and to the papers. Three matching numbers is a start. Two is a problem.

Movement

The Da Vinci Chronograph launched in 2007 with IWC calibre 89360. That movement is in-house, uses twin barrels, runs about 68 hours on a full wind, and drives a flyback chronograph. Replica cases hold a third-party automatic or a chronograph module. Through a sapphire caseback you see an engraved rotor, Geneva stripes, and perlage on a genuine 89360. Copies show stamped stripes, screws with no heat blue, and rough edges on the bridges. No replica carries calibre 89360.

Pushers and chronograph

Press the start pusher. A genuine 89360 starts with a short, firm click. The chronograph seconds hand jumps from zero with no drift. Flyback reset is instant. Copy pushers feel soft, the reset hand can bounce past zero, and the seconds hand can stop between two marks.

Dial, hands, crystal

At 10x magnification genuine dial print has sharp edges and even lacquer. Copies show bleed at the letters and heavier serifs. Applied indices sit flat and reflect light on one plane. The date disc on a genuine watch is centered in the window. A copy shows an off-center date and a cyclops that distorts the edge of the aperture.

Case finish and weight

Steel Da Vinci cases have crisp lines where brushed and polished surfaces meet. Copies show rounded transitions and soft lugs. Weight tells less than people expect, because a thick copy case can match the original on a scale. Judge the finish, not the grams.

Price and paperwork

A Da Vinci chronograph priced below the normal market range is a fake or a replica. Ask for a service record, a movement photo, and a return window. IWC can confirm a serial number. An independent watchmaker can open the case in minutes and settle the question.

Replica tiers

Replica Da Vinci IW3760 watches sell in tiers. Entry copies use quartz or a low-grade automatic. Mid and top tiers copy the case size, dial layout, and strap, and still use a third-party chronograph module. Case dimensions and dial text vary between batches, so two copies from the same seller can differ.
